Cannot use Equalizer
« on: April 18, 2011, 02:30:38 pm »

Hi,

I addressed this problem about 6 months ago without a solution. Just wondering if someone experienced the same problem in the mean time.
My mediaserver has 2 PCI soundblaster sound cards and one on-board realtek HD audio card.
If I enable the Equalizer one of the channels or both don't play after a random amount of time.
What i hear is a sharp click and I can see that the equalizer shown on in the top window is missing one of the signals or both.
When I stop playing the music I hear a sharp click again then when I start the channels are back.

This happens on all 3 cards.

What does the "Peak Level" area at the bottom left of DSP Studio say?

It's possible you're triggering Protect Mode if you're adding large gains with the equalizer.  If this is the case, turn down the preamplifier slider so that less gain is being applied to the signal.

Thanks for the quick response.
Peak level was high on 2 of the 3 cards. I turned it down so let's see what happens.

Sorry but no dice.
Peak level stays below 50% now and I still have the same problem.
Must be something specific to my setup since no-one else is reporting this.
