Playing Ordinary CD's
« on: June 02, 2002, 05:00:28 am »

Maybe I'm just dumb but I can't seem to play an ordinary CD on MJ. MP3 and windows Media files play great. An ordinary wave CD doesn't play and MJ just scrolls through it. I have wave files checked for MJ to play.

BTW: A CD Does Not Have Wav Files It Has "CDA" Files.

Does It scroll Fast Or Does A 4 Min Song Take 4 Mins To Scroll To The Next?

If So Maybe There Is A Problem With The Device Like

Settings, Options, Playback, Output, Wave out (Default), What Is Bit Depth Set Too? Should Be Set To 16-bit.

In Windows Is Digital Play Back Set To On Or Off If Off Set To On See What Happens

Look In Windows Play Control Is Anything Muted?

CDA files are small, approximataely 40 byte files that point to the actual wav files contained
on any music cd.  Actually, a cd contains numerous wav files in both mono and stereo
folders and 16bit and 8bit sub-folders.  Finally, there are sub-sub-folders of 11025hz, 22050hz, and 44100hz.

Only I would know this.  I need a life....

It scrolls fast but will stop occasionally on a song. Hit play and it starts scrolling again. Set it for 16 bit but still the same. Tried wave out, writer, etc still the same.

Did you turn digital playback off for the CD drive?  It is probably not working.

Problem solved. Something I did solved the problem but it still doesn't play on my cdwriter. No problem I'll just use the cd player in my computer. It's working fine.
                              Thanks again.
