Build 97 - Filters not working
« on: May 25, 2011, 05:05:57 pm »

The Cyberlink PDVD 11 Video Decoder is not being recognized when Red October is disabled.  Let me know what you need to fix that.  Thanks!

There is a whitelist (though I'm surprised CUVID didn't make the list).

Right, I know about the whitelist, but, also am surprised about LAV CUVID not being on it.  The Cyberlink decoder not as surprised.  But I need both or I'm completely in trouble with trying to use MC16.  My main HTPC is fast enough to use ffdshow if I need to, but, my nVidia machine NEEDS LAV CUVID.

Work In Progress.

Not a problem.  Just wanted to make sure that the issues were known.  I've configured it to use ffdshow for now.  We'll see how well that goes.  If I have to I'll enable DXVA and run with EVR for a renderer until it's fixed.  I'm hoping with the latest ffdshow my slow machine MIGHT be able to handle it without completely choking.

How do i get jriver to change filters?

It is set on Auto and MKV has no picture.

I tried changing the renderer from Auto to Video renderer 9

Then tried to change the filters but JRiver keeps using Lav

Right now with build 97, manually configuring filters (with Red October turned off) isn't working right.

Do your MKVs work with Red October turned on on build 97?  They almost certainly should, unless they're really weird.  If not, we need to figure out what is going on.  Can you also post your system info details from Help -> System Info?

I do also see that you're trying to use Haali's renderer.  Can you switch that back to Automatic and try again (or just switch MKV back to fully Automatic playback method)?

Why does it keep trying to use Haali's video renderer, I wonder?  I don't know for sure, but I bet this is something of a clue as to the problem.  Win7 should default to EVR with Red October turned on.

On a P3, I'm not surprised you might be running into some trouble.  But you should be able to get it going.  Someone who knows more should be able to help.

So if I am to understand all this a Pentium 3 is now old.

Can you tell me the version before 86 was this the one that had all the settings wiped?

I am going to go back prior to 86 until this is sorted.

PS my office machine also will not play MKV

thanks

It is old, but that isn't why it isn't working.  Something else is going on.  You might not get acceptably framerates with H264 compressed HD MKVs (without GPU accelerated filters), but they should at least show you SOMETHING.

No... Something else is weird.

MC 16.0.81 has the Theater View changes, but not the video stuff of any kind, so that might be a good one to check.

I really wonder about the Haali Renderer thing, though.  It should be using EVR on Windows 7.

It shouldn't.  Just make a Library Backup before you do it.

You may have to reset your DirectShow settings somewhat, but it should keep everything else intact.

A 3.1 GHz Pentium III, 2 GB RAM

Should have read more carefully.

FWIW, I did notice the clock speed, but with the later mobile P3s (Centrino 1) you could get them to really high clock speeds if you put them in a desktop board.

No SATA though...  :-[

FYI I have gone back to build 81 and all is well.
Also note that the 97 build hangs quite a bit when doing anything like closing the cross. sits there for a while.

81 is instantaneous.

I am disappointed I cant use 97 hopefully somebody can help me sort out the filters.
