Okay,
After playing with v7, I finally purchased v8.  DL'ed v8, then ran the .EXE to install. Also got the registration code emailed to me.  I get the following message:
"Media Jukebox 8.0 Setup is preparing Install Wizard which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please wait."
I watch the progress bar go to 100% then I get a new little window that says:
"Errors encounted while performing the operation. Look at the information window for more details."
The only problem is that there is no "information" window and the setup process stops.  To get out of it I must click the close "x".
Something you may need to know: I have v7.2.280 install currently which operates in non-plus mode.

Help please!!!!

Thanks, Bill

Do you have the 9MB download from our downloads page?  It's 8.0.289.  Sounds like the download wasn't complete.

Yes.  I have DL'ed the 9Mb file twice and I receive the same error message.  I will try it again if necessary, but I'm not sure that's the problem.

Disk space?

Temp files can accumulate, especially if you have had failed installations.

Try IE/Tools/Options/Temporary Internet Files/Delete files.

Okay, I've cleaned up TMP files, however I have a 60Gb HD and I am only using 10Gb.  I also DL'ed the 9Mb file again and receive the same error.  I have rebooted, restarted, etc. all to no avail.  The 9Mb file's properties are:
9.07MB (9,527,092) 9,527,296.

Should I maybe uninstall v7.2.280?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Check this folder for folders named rar*.

c:\Documents and Settings[insert your username]\Local Settings\Temp

That's on WinXP.  On other OS's it may be different.

Okay,
I uninstalled v7 then tried to install v8 again and got the same error.  I'm really confused.  I don't even get to the license screed that asks me to accept or decline the agreement.  I have since reinstalled v7, but is operates only in regular mode.  I have purchased v8, but, well you know the problem.  Please give me some more ideas.

It's almost certainly an OS problem.  Keep digging for temporary files somewhere.

You didn't reply on this from above:

I Had the same problem installing MJ on a friend's computer: Sometimes you have to think weird - I removed the Rewritable-CD from the (Ricoh)CD-RW Drive and that was it - no problems under XP. I'm using Nero InCD...good luck, try to think crazy

But now the toolbar is painted white in unskinned mode - you have to restore the window and maximize it once again and everything is fine...that's life (-;

Jim, I check all this and found a folder in c:\windows\temp®ar*. I cleaned up everything in the folder.  Even ran Norton's Clean Sweep and cleaned up all temp files.  When I do a search on all local drives for rar* now, nothing is found.  I then try to reinstall v8 and get the same error. I am really stumped.

Still hoping to resolve my install problem.  So I thought I's reply to my last port to get this back on top.
