Are We There Yet? -- MJ 8.0.285 -- Is It It?
« on: May 28, 2002, 03:51:02 pm »

The builds are getting cleaner and cleaner.  We've left the scissors in the patient a few times, but I'm thinking we should let it go.  Release 8.0, Ready to Roll?

Any second opinions?

Seems to me that the only way you're going to generate more issues if there are any is if you widen the audience and officially release it.

I take it the last few bugs I mentioned are unfixable? I suppose it's not that big of deal though. I'm just kinda picky.

(You're gonna have to search for them, it almost time for my afternoon nap)

If the problem in the "Libraries" thread is a real one, that seems like something to correct first.

>>> A Man walked into the doctors office and said doc it hurts when i do this, The Doctor Replied Then Don't Do That, Pay On Your Way Out

Oh sure, I referenced this joke a few days ago in a bug thread and Jim yelled at me for being cynical!

Anyway, Matt committed to fixing the "insufficient disk space" bug in the disk writer.  In 285, you still get the "insufficient disk space" message anytime you use it.

This would be the only issue for me.

JimH, a question:

When MJ8 is released, does that mean there will be NO MORE development or bug fixes of MJ8?

When MJ 7.2 came out, it seemed all energies went into v8 and 7.2 got no more attention.  No offense intended, I'm just asking.  I see some other software publishers seem to have several minor upgrades before a new version comes out and I wondered if JRiver will do this, or go right into working on the next major release.

LC,
After 7.2 came out, there were two minor maintenance releases.  We will do at least one with 8.0.  That's normal.

Remy,
Insufficient disk space on cdwriter will be fixed.

RemyJ

Since he was talking like this was some sergical operation, it was the only joke I know about Doctors. As a matter of fact i don't tell jokes never have since i can't remember them.

As Jim Said They Took A Few Steps Back, And Then Forward Again. I think MJ8 has less bugs than 7.2 and with all the new options MJ has never been better.

i say put the for sale sign up (besides i did not mean for it to be cynical!)

Go for it! with the disk writer problem out, I haven't seen anything else that should justify delaying the release.

The latest build have been pretty stable so IMHO you can go ahead and release
your baby.

Also we're getting thirsty, time for a "coupe de champagne" !

Given that you have the easy update feature it's not a disaster to release early. I don't think you'd be releasing early if you released now.

That being said while there are a lot of folks banging on the builds but I think you're better off sitting on a single build for a week or longer to give things a chance to pop up.

Jim H,
MJ8 is definitly ready for release.  What minor bugs that are still present are not show stoppers.  MJ8 is one awsome piece of work and all involved, from the programmers to the beta testers to the CEO, should be commended.  Great job!  Now let's bust the champain bottle on it and feed it to the hords.

I think it should be a go.
The issues that remain are like that little squeak in the dashboard on a brand new vehicle.
This is a fine piece of software in any respects, get it in to the mainstream!

...can't find any more problems in the rip & burn area
with Win98SE. Saw some intermittent problems with
playlist shaking,(last rev) but cannot reproduce them.

Would organize things a bit differently, but that's
for NEXT time.

Roger that ...er...MJ'ers.  We are preparing The Book and The Glass for tomorrow.

Supposed to be interviewed too for NPR.  John Gordon's Future Tense.  He wants to know what happened with the $3 Billion offer we made to the record labels about a year ago.

I'm going to say you told us you wouldn't pay.

A big 'Ready to go' for me too!
No more problems ripping or burning and it is very stable.
Perhaps again a little blinking of the tracks at the stop of the movement up and down in the main window, and again dead links to 'Help' button in CD Labeler...

Anyhow Great job boys and long life to Media Jukeboxe 8 and its crew!  Next Page

The only problem I've encountered, which is a small one, is hanging following an image scan.
You should all be very proud of this outstanding product.  Congrats!

Man goes to the doc, with a strawberry growing out of his head.
Doc says, "I'll give you some cream to put on it."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

"Doc, I can't stop singing the green green grass of home."
"That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome. "
"Is it common? "
"It's not unusual."

A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only clingfilm for shorts. The
shrink says, "Well, I can clearly see you're nuts."
