Media on a NAS Server
« on: July 16, 2011, 05:03:39 pm »

I would like to move my media collection to a NAS server.  My goal is to create my own personal media cloud without having to run a windows machine.

I would like to access my media collection using the following access methods.

1. MC from any computer... LAN or across the internet
2. Gizmo
3. Playstation DNLA

Is this possible?  What are the issues?

Thanks
Alex

Definitely possible.  Just start by turning on the Media Network option.  Then try to connect to it from another PC, by using the Access Key.

Provided your NAS server has a DLNA server in it, then yes it's easy to be able to access it from MC or a Playstation, although if you meant that you'd like to run MC on a NAS server then no this is not possible.

Gizmo requires MC so you wouldn't be able to use Gizmo with a NAS without also running MC on a Windows PC.
