Or do I need to upgrade to covert FLAC to mp3 using J River?

First question, and I apologize if this has been covered before,
I checked and found nothing, but didn't really know how to search for it.

Anyways, I open J River JB and
VIEW> LIBRARY VIEWS> FILES

Lovely..... but do I have to do this every single time I check in?
Because when I exit and return, I'm looking at thumbnails and album shots.

With MJ, I believe you need to obtain the mp3 encoder to convert to mp3.

As for opening in a particular view, see the first options under Options > Startup.

Thanks for the confirmation. Also it happens here on different libraries. I just reported it as a bug.
