My Father was put in a rest home today
As I Said He Has Alzheimer's, And Was Drinking
My mom does not allow alcohol in the house, but apparently he was buying it and hiding it in the garage, my sister went up to my mom and dads house and pulled out 3 trash cans full of Vodka bottles he has been hiding in the garage, some of them still full.
He can feed himself OK
He needs help walking, and going to the bathroom etc..
He really is not sure why he is there, he thinks the family is trying to get rid of him
I used to be one of the strong kids in the family, but I have been reduced to crying like a kid Thu the days.
It is hard to see your father, who was once a strong willed, and very smart man lose his memory, and now his physical ability.
The good thing is my sister was able to direct him into a facility, that she worked at, and that is only 3 miles from her house in new jersey.
when I was a kid my dad would take me to the dump and we would pick up some junk radios, and TVs take them back home, and get them working. I often would help him on the kitchen table just for something to do. He also was once the lead tech at the Atlantic Electric Generating Facility, They would call him almost every day he was off to help them fix something at the Electric Plant.
Now he can't put on his socks by him self.
