Screen Savers come on during movies
« on: September 17, 2011, 09:35:59 am »

Screen Savers used to not come on during movies but now that I've upgraded to MediaCenter160164 it comes on.  I see the option for disabling in theater view but what about the other dozen different ways to watch a movie.  I use detach display on a different monitor.

It's worth trying build 176 from the top of this board.

Also, try Display View (fullscreen) instead of a detached display.

I believe there may still be an issue with the screen saver timer. After watching a movie (HQ mode V16X) and exiting to Theater view, MC16 went directly into screen saver and no matter what command I sent, I was unable to communicate with MC16 remotely (via Girder USBUIRT Core Commands)

I finally gave up on using a screen saver with version 16X and disabled it and have not tried using it with the 17X versions. The changes list has not mentioned screen saver issue changes and so I naturally assumed nothing has changed. Am I wrong?

I noticed the following behavior with .176:

-Play a video all the way through without interruption and the screensaver did NOT come on.

-Play a video part way, hit pause, and after the screensaver timeout, the screensaver WILL come on.  Resuming the movie takes the screensaver off, but then the screensaver will come back on after the timeout even if the video is still playing.

Once the screensaver has come on during a video, the only way to prevent it from coming back was to stop the video, and play it again from the video selection screen, and then don't pause it.

I also experience this phenomenon.

Disable Screen Saver in Theater View options.

Disable Screen Saver in Theater View options.

Yes, but people may want the screensaver to engage when MC is sitting at static menus or playing music.  They never want it to engage if a video is playing.

I can't repro this problem using build 177.  I'm playing a ripped DVD in theater view with a Windows screensaver set at 1 minute.  I pause the movie (by clicking the pause button on the player bar) and after 1 minute the screensaver kicks in.  I click the play button and the movie resumes.  I wait several minutes but the screensaver does not kick in again.  Maybe if you could outline the exact steps and what type of content you are watching I could try again to repro it here. Thanks.

I don't have access to version 177 to try like you are.  But I'm using a remote instead of keyboard/mouse, so that might make a difference.
