incorrect duration and bitrate listed for m4a files
« on: September 18, 2011, 09:50:26 pm »

Hi

I'm using the latest version of Media Jukebox, and have discovered that once imported, m4a files display incorrect track lengths (way too long) and bitrates (too low) in the library listing. this seems to cause a couple of issues:

- the cross fade doesn't work because the player unexpectedly reaches the end of the track
- last.fm scrobbles don't work because the track doesn't reach what the player thinks is the half way point in the track (based on the incorrect track length).

can you suggest a fix? by browsing the forum it seems this issue has been fixed in Media Centre. is that correct? is there a fix for Jukebox?

Thanks, much appreciated.

I think installing the DC-Bass Source filter and configuring MJ to use it should help.

Sorry to take so long in replying... yes! that worked.

Just note for anyone else wanting to fix this issue... the instructions at http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=59513.msg411870#msg411870 are very clear and easy to follow. But they recommend obtaining the DC-Bass Source filter package from http://reino.degeelebosch.nl/ . However this package doesn't seem to work with Windows 7. I obtained good results by downloading the K-Lite Codec Pack Full which contains the DC-Bass Source filter. During installation you can choose just to install that component and avoid all the extra stuff the installer suggests. Download link: http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm
