not sure where to post this as it is valid for both version 17 and 16

I have one album that will not play in JMC

it will give the error code

The Media types of the selected files are not supported for play back. (<none>)
this info i got from playing a file in foobar in which it plays fine

24 bit / 88.2 khz  2 channels
Bitrate : 2596 kbps


Tool : reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917

It's possible your soundcard doesn't support that format.

In DSP Studio > Output Format, try selecting 16-bit and 44.1.  If it works, change one at a time back.

tested some other 24 bit files at sample rates up to 96khz. the all  play fine in JRiver MC
maybe it would be more correct to say "it wont import to the library"  giving the error "The Media types of the selected files are not supported for play back. (<none>)"
when trying to open the file
never got to actually  playing the files

if anyone want i could send a file for review

I have a TON of 24/88.2 in my library.  All import and play wonderfully.

Perhaps there are some corrupt headers or something in your files?

no idea what was wrong
converted a file with dbpoweramp flac>flac was same file size and now it plays on JMC

audiochecksum is same too

not sure if this help:
when trying to play the file from a drive on this computer it now gives a warning when trying to play it "there is nothing to play"
before i was playing from my Unraid server

Thanks for the sample file.

The first block is a FLAC__METADATA_TYPE_PICTURE instead of a FLAC__METADATA_TYPE_STREAMINFO.  This is rare.  We were not considering these valid files.

I'll change it for a coming build of v17.
