Playback Problem - Newbie
« on: May 12, 2012, 05:36:36 am »

Hi All

I am on the JRiver trial version and having some problems with music file playback.

I have a RipNAS with 2 copies of every ripped CD, one in FLAC, the other in MP3 (for iPod). I have configured MC to play the FLAC files from the RipNAS. However when I boot up the PC and go to play a track, I get the following message:

"Something went wrong with playback.
File could not be found. check filename in library matches filename on disc"

If i go into the RipNAS foder and rightclick on the file & choose "play in Media Centre", the track will then play. After this, the music will then play in MC.

Thanks

What does the library field "Filename" show for the problem files? Please post an example of the complete filename including the full path.

What happens when you right-click one of those files inside MC and select "Locate > On Disk (external)"? Does the correct folder open in Windows Explorer?

Hello,

I also have the same problem sometimes. It seems my pc not always have automatic logged in to the NAS. So I just go into explorer to the nas, give again the log-in and password, and start mc again.
I didn't find the reason for the disconnection yet. My nas stays on all the time, but not my pc.

Filepath shown below, which is correct.

\\RIPNAS\Music\Radiohead\The King of Limbs\Radiohead - 01 - Bloom.flac

When I right-click one of those files inside MC and select "Locate > On Disk (external)"? the location shown is correct.

I think Medvedick may be on the right lines. This always occurs when I re-start my PC. So it may be a communication disconnect with the RipNAS

Windows can be slow to discover devices in the network.
If I open the Network Environment in Win I don’t see the NAS.

A thing you can try is to map a network drive in Explorer e.g. R: >> \\RIPNAS\

At boot time the PC probably wakes up the NAS making it visible in the network
