The holy grail in handheld syncing would be if MC could recognize a device that contains internal/external memory as a single drive. Perhaps MC could then intelligently sync playlists across each drive so that the user would not have to worry about capacity concerns for each drive. It would be fine if this required some end-user input to get set up to prevent false identification of linked storage devices (a "combine these devices" option).

This would also be a boon for Rockbox users since playlists could be stored in a single location for the playlist catalog to scan. Also, MC could then intelligently sync playlists that point to the correct drive that each music file is stored on. There would be a lot going on under the hood that the user would not even be exposed to: it would just "work."
