Gizmo stuck on resume. ICS problem?
« on: July 01, 2012, 07:57:48 am »

Last night, my wife's DROID RAZR updated to ICS. I when she went to play some music, the library loaded fine, but but when she went to play a song, Gizmo went to the playing now screen, flashed the play controls and immediately went to the "resume playback" button. I then tried it on my Motorola Xoom running ICS, and the same thing happened. I then tried it on my DROID Charge, and everything was fine. All of this was done over wifi.
Gizmo did work well with on the Xoom previously.
Anyone else having this issue? Also, any ideas on a fix?

So I tried using Gizmo on my dad's Samsung Galaxy Tab running ICS and had the same problem.  Could it be my set up?  My phone running Gingerbread works fine.  I am not sure what to do to hep solve the issue.  Suggestions?

I've had that happen very occasionally on a Nexus S on ICS 4.0.4.
When it happens, I need to reselect the server (I've got a couple in my server list).

I suppose it's also possible the settings have gotten corrupted. You could uninstall and reinstall Gizmo on your device (you'll need to put the server key back after reinstalling).

Are you using authentication?
Can you connect with MC on a different PC on the lan?
Does webgizmo work?

I am using authentication. I am able to get connected from the devices just fine. I can browse through my entire library. It's when I choose a specific track that things go wrong. I the screen switches to playing now, and rather than streaming the song, and shows resume. I can also use my devices to control Media Center with no problem at all. I also, my device running Gingerbread works perfectly.
I can get music to stream to regular computers with Media Center's sever. Webgizmo is also ok. It seems the problem only occurs on devices running ICS.
I have tried reinstalling Gizmo, as well as MC. I am not sure what else to do. Thanks in advance for any other suggestions or inquiries.

Several people have reported similar problems with Android 4.0.  We'll see what can be done.

Hi Jim,
I am still having trouble with Gizmo on my Android device. I waited for a few newer iterations of Gizmo, but there hasn't been any improvement.I hoped that with MC 18, Gizmo music playback would work, but as usual the library loaded fine, but but when I went to play a song, Gizmo went to the playing now screen, flashed the play controls and immediately went to the "resume playback" button.  I can replicate the problem on a Motorola Xoom running Jelly Bean (had the same issue on ICS before it updated) Motorola Razr Maxx, Droid Charge, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Jelly Bean.  The issue persists on both WiFi and on 3/4G.  Gimzo can be used as a controller for the server, and also loads pictures.  I only have problems with audio and video playback on the device itself.  Any new developments underway?

Is it still the case that you have a gingerbread device that it still works on?
What format is the music in your library?
It's very odd that you have multiple devices that won't work.
We've got several devices with 4.0.x and 4.1.x on and can't reproduce this.
I wonder if there is a particular app you are running across all of the devices you mentioned that's causing us trouble in some way?

I do still have device running GB, and it works fine.  Not sure on the app part.  I'll look into it.
