MC17 error - R6025 pure virtual function call
« on: August 09, 2012, 11:07:55 pm »

I had never had MC crash in about 2.5 years of use, until a few weeks ago.  Since then, I've had 4 instances of this error: a dialog named "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" pops up with the message "Runtime error! R6025 pure virtual function call"  Clicking its "OK" button produces the Windows "Program has stopped working..." dialog.

Here is the error:

This always seems to happen just before a track change in MC.  The progress bar stays at about 7 seconds left in the track, and the next track does play, though MC's display doesn't update. It quits playing at the end of the next track.

Sorry for the trouble.  I haven't seen or heard this before.

Could you try disabling any third-party plugins and DSP.  Does that make any difference?

Anything else unique about your installation we should try testing?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I've had DSP disabled all along.  I was using one third-party plugin, the iMON VFD display plugin.  After the problem happend, I uninstalled it, and it made no difference.

There's nothing particularly unusual about my setup, but I did notice that at least 3 of the times the error has occurred, it was when the player was switching from a mono to a stereo file.  My mono files are true mono files, which may be a bit unusual.  I use flac format.

One other thing that I happened to think of was that I made one hardware change just before this started.  I finally got a network cable run into this room, so I removed the wireless card I had been using, and enabled the bulit-in wired adapter.  I can't see how that would make any difference, but I went ahead and disabled "Media network" in MC17 (I wasn't using it anyway).  The error hasn't happened since, maybe I've found something.  If it goes a few more days. I might re-enable the option and see if it comes back.

It just happened again, so the network setting had nothing to do with it.

Once again, the player was switching from a mono track to a stereo track.  I think this must have something to do with the problem; it has happened too many times to be coincidence.

Wasn't there some kind of change in the handling of mono files a few builds ago?  This has now happened with builds 177, 182 and 183.
