DLNA-Video: forward and rewind ?
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:31:47 am »

Hi folks.

I'm wondering about the limiations of FWD and REW with MC via DLNA??

If I start forwarding on native mpeg 2 m2ts the screen goes black first.
On PLAY the video starts over from the beginning.

This is determined to some degree by the renderer support for time based seeking and whether or not you are transcoding (sounds like you are not).
There will be support for renderers that do time based seeking in the next version of MC. The ones we have that time seek are the PS3 and Bravia NX810 TV.

[edit] some renderers will byte seek by calculating the offsets internally then requesting a range.

The strange thing is that it seemed to work two days ago. And yesterday and 3 days ago it didn't.

Not sure what goes wrong here.

Is there any way to trace anything?

It's working with Serviio 1.0.1 and latest ffmpeg  build (I compiled it by myself)  on the same TV btw. It can't be the renderer!!!

What build are you on? Have you been updating them over the time you've seen differences?
Please also state which renderer you are using in each message so I don't have to try and track it down.

Thanks.
