flacs with cue sheets won't play on a remote computer
« on: September 04, 2012, 12:35:36 pm »

Hello,
Reported this a while ago in the media network sub-forum..
Didn't work in MC17. Doesn't work in MC18.

FLAC's with cue sheets won't play correctly, when MC is connected to a remote Library Server (outside 192.168.0.xxx).
MC plays only the first track and then skips the rest.
They play OK through Gizmo.
They play OK on a local network (192.168.0.xxx).

Sorry, have to bump this..
I believe, uncut flacs (and apes) with cue sheets do not play correctly when MC is connected to a remote Library Server.

Most likely a related issue (this time with a local library):
In my setup, when such uncut flac/ape files get synced to a handheld they get cut and encoded to mp3, they also get placed to the handheld cache folder (as cut and encoded mp3 files).
Now, on every import those cut and encoded mp3 files are included into the import summary as "Updated". These entries shouldn't be there as the files were not changed.

Could you please look into this?

Thanks!

CUE file support over the Internet (http://) will be sketchy.

If you could use a mapped drive or UNC path that all the machines can see, it would be best.

It would be nice to improve this with time, but it's technically challenging since you can't do seeks with http:// (unless you want to wait a long time) but instead must reopen on big seeks.

Matt,
Mapped drives and UNC are all OK in my local network. However, when I am away from home and would like to use MC connected to LS, then this problem surfaces.
When I use Gizmo it works (it also uses http, no?)
When I use WebRemote it works (sort of.. there's another problem - it doesn't advance to the next track for any album/playlist, only plays individual tracks - unrelated bug. I guess, Webremote is being phased out now) - but it does play those flacs - any track, not just the first one.
Thanks!
