What's your OS? If XP try installing the stock version (WMPXP) over WMP9. On any other OS look for WMP v7.1 on the net (it's not available at MS site) and again install over WMP9.

Thanks for your help, I'm running windows XP and as you can probably tell I'm only semi-literate when it comes to computers.
To reinstall WMP8 do I just use my original XP installation disc?

Haven't been there...Haven't done that

But yes...try that. JimH said in another post about a compatible version of MJ v8 (due soon). I'd still kill WMP9 (if possible).

Two other options:
1) If you created a restore point in XP before installing WMP, then you can roll back.
2) The least attractive...reinstall XP

i would leave it.

at any rate, when a user installs it they are asked if they would like to back up the older version, and if they select No, it tells you you can not uninstall it.

and if they have a version of MJ8 that fixes this then there will be no problem in a few days
