Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm not very technical when it comes to audio and electronics. I know very little about that. When I bought the Denon 4306 I sort of dismissed the
current and power recommendations Magnepan gives. I realize these may be just rules of the thumb and there might be exceptions that work great that don't comply to these rules. Problem is, I don't know so I've decided to trust that bit of advise. Both McIntosh and Krell have earned their stripes, I've heard them plenty of times in the past, I know both brands well. Having said that, I'm a bit sceptical about this particular McIntosh model for the reasons micromecca pointed out, that's why I figured I'd ask here. The Krell is stable at 1 ohm delivering 800 watts. Not that I need 800 watts, but I do need the stability.
About Emotiva, when I see 300 watts @ 8 ohm and 500 watts @ 4 ohm I get skeptical and I don't believe its stable, and probably get less stable at 2 or even 1 ohm, if it can even handle that. See, I would think they'd be proud to mention it if it were, so the fact that they don't probably means it isn't
