Importing an iTunes Library
« on: February 02, 2013, 02:44:20 pm »

I am a novice with MC, I have recently downloaded MC18 and attempted to import from my existing iTunes/Pure Music Library. I am getting error messages at each attempt saying the "filenames are too long". My library is mostly classical, which tend to have long filenames, but this has not been an issue for the other side. I have over 250,000 files, approx. 18,000 albums consuming 8TB of NAS. All files are either AIFF or ALAC. After I let the import run through to completion, I only have 57,820 files. Does anybody have any advice?

Welcome to the forum.  Windows has a limit of 256 characters for the full path including filename.  I don't believe that limit is the case for OSX.

You could try shortening the directory names.  Change "Classical", for example, to "C" or "Music" to "M".
