What is the difference between Null Output and Core Audio?

How does one choose? Is one supposed to sound better?

Welcome.

Null Output does nothing with the sound (sends it to 'null' or 'no place').

It's primarily for testing, since you can test everything except the final output and hardware.

It's also useful for machines with no sound device so they can still play video, although this only applies to Windows for now.
