Why doesn't subtitle behavior work when rendering?
« on: March 09, 2013, 01:04:26 am »

I am trying the MC18 evaluation version.

I've set up MC as a DLNA server and am rendering to my Oppo 105.

I'm having a problem with subtitles when rendering. I have a ripped copy of A Royal Affair (a Danish film with most dialogue in Swedish) with English language subtitles.

In the Options menus, video submenu I have set up the following subtitle and language settings:

Subtitle mode: Always show subtitles
Default subtitle language: English
Default audio language: English
Subtitle size: 100%

When I play A Royal Affair on the mediaserver with JRiver installed it correctly shows subtitles.

When I "play to" my Oppo (i.e. use the DLNA server capability of JRiver and the rendering ability of the Oppo) the subtitles don't show. I haven't tried any other films but expect I would have this same behavior.

For what its worth the film is an .mkv file and the subs are either in one of the .idx files or .sub files. There is also an .xml sidecar file and an .sfv file in case that's relevant. Everything is in the same directory.

What's going on? Am I missing a setting?

Thanks, I am stumped.
