Suggestions for best setting for "2.1" Audio zone?
« on: May 26, 2013, 04:20:07 pm »

I have searched the forums and cannot seem to find any concrete info on setting up a proper "2.1" zone for listening to music exclusively.

My setup includes our Pioneer Elite AVR (acting as a Preamp) to my Creek EVO 5350 which powers my fronts . The sub is connected directly to the Elite. What I would like is to be able to have MC correctly send specific frequencies to the fronts and then direct all bass output down to the sub. I have tried a few things in Output format:

1. Channels = 2.1
2. Mixing = JRSS Mixing
3. For Stereo Sources Only Mix to 2.1 = Yes
4. Subwoofer = JRSS Subwoofer (80 hz Lowpass)

But the sub is generally not getting any love so far. Obviously - I probably need to venture in Room Correction?

All music is FLAC based (16/44 to 24/192) stereo only.

Appreciate any tips.

Cheers!

It should be as simple as picking '2.1' with JRSS.  There's no need to do #3 in your list.

That will deliver a 5.1 signal with silence in the SL, SR, and C channels.

To test, I would recommend using:
Tools > Advanced Tools > Audio Calibration > Volume calibration @ 5.1

Play each channel and see if you get audio.  When you play SL, SR, C, you'll hear it get down-mixed into the L and R.  But the SW should pass untouched.
