How to keep libraries separate?
« on: June 20, 2013, 04:06:27 pm »

Hi,
I'd like jriver to keep my individual libraries separate so they don't get mixed up. So I'd like to have a classical library, rock, jazz, etc. I don't want to see them all combined. I'd like to be able to switch the I barriers with JRemote.
Thanks for your help.

Libraries are separate; only one is loaded at a time, so there's no interference.  I think this is just a terminology issue.  Best to use MC's language - a Library is its collection of files and settings.

You're probably wanting your collections to be viewed distinctly.  You can use separate MC Libraries for this - but you'll have to use MC to switch libraries (and this has many drawbacks - experiment to discover them).  Or you can use MC's powerful view system to show you the items you want from with the single Library.  Almost everyone uses this method.  And you can then easily customize the JRemote (i.e. WebGizmo) views to show you the categories you want.

This will be a good start:

Create a Categories view, since that will translate most clearly to JRemote.

Master your view in Standard View.  Then configure a similar view under WebGizmo views under Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Customize views for Gizmo & WebGizmo...
