I have seen similar problems with Dish Network's DVR:

If no other tuner is available, and you are using the DVR features (like pause, replay, etc) on the same channel that is scheduled to be recorded, then problems occur.

In this case, the recording only happens after one hour of paused live programming is recorded - so the recording starts late (in this case 35 minutes late) and then later that hour of paused live programming goes away because it is temporary, leaving you with only 25 minutes of your hour program.
