Use xy-VSFilter/XySubFilter for subtitle rendering
« on: July 21, 2013, 06:00:01 pm »

Hi,
I use JRiver Media Center for watching videos, also animes sometimes. When watching animes JRiver often isn`t able to display the subtitles correctly. It would be nice, if I could just use xy-VSFilter or XySubFilter( http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=168282 ) for subtitle rendering instead of the internal engine.  :) I already tried to set xy-VSFilter as a video postprocessor, but the subtitles are still rendered by the internal engine.  ?

Best regards,
Mason

That would be awesome. The inbuild subtitle engine is very poor (practically problems with every anime ASS subtitle IMHO).

If using XySubFilter, you'd normally need to disable "Auto-load Subtitles" in media players like MPC-HC, or comparable settings for other media players to disable any built-in ISR Subtitle Renderer. Failure to do so will result in both XySubFilter and ISR to rendering subtitles on top of each on with madVR, completely redundant, and harming performance greatly.
