Can I sync to my iPhone via MC
« on: August 04, 2013, 09:00:25 pm »

Is there any way I can sync music to my iPhone directly from Media Center? I would like on-the-fly transcoding to Apple Lossless.  If this isn't possible, I would be okay with 320 Kbps MP3.

I only use Media Center in library client mode (I connect to my Windows Media Center server) -- can this same request (if possible) be completed over a client connection?

These abilities would dramatically improve my complete media experience.

You can do that plus more with JRemote. Check this thread.

I connect to multiple servers on my home network via wifi
with Apple lossless, then when i'm outside my home i have it transcode to mp3
over 3G network, and in my car i transfer the stream via bluetooth wirelessly
to my car stereo. Works great.

I want to sync to the iPod software of the iPhone.  I know this ability has existed at times but I'm not sure of its current state, or it's state on the Mac.  I don't want to require a cell connection, don't want constant radiation from streaming, or the lower quality and increased data usage associated with it.

What is the simplest workflow for me to synchronize music from Media Center to my iPhone?  Is it possible to do this over Library Server as the client?

I have, in the past, kept a playlist of songs that I want on my iPhone, a playlist of songs that were on my iPhone, and another that showed the difference.  So I could add to the first playlist, then export the difference, followed by adding these to the On iPhone playlist.  Of course it is completely manual, but it was doable.

Are there any other options?

I ended up taking the simple approach and just using iTunes Match. For $25 a year, I just don't have to care about syncing... all my music is there.  And it's on all my iDevices ... and my laptop with an SSD drive that I use at work... and two AppleTVs.

With iTunes Radio, it will be even better (I think...)
