MadVR and Direct3D problems
« on: September 21, 2013, 06:24:09 am »

I just updated to catalyst control centre 13.9 and now have frequent problems when watching mkv files from DVDs (not tried from Blu ray yet). Basically playback stops, screen goes black and there's a little MadVR message in red in the top left of screen or a MC error message in the centre.

Just now when I pressed Stop the screen went black and when I pressed stop again I got the MC message "Error starting Direct3D engine (error creating Direct3D device (0x8876086C))

Any ideas what is causing this and what the remedy might be.

Thanks

Am I correct that you are using the Red October HQ video settings or have you customized them? I ask because I'm not having any issues with MKV files (but I don't think I have any that are based on DVDs). I have tried AVI, VOB, MP4, and Blu-ray MKVs.

To confirm. No problems prior to CCC 13.9 (was on 13.4).
Running latest version of MC18, RO HQ no mods
W7 x64

Cheers

Update. Stopping playback can often result in theatre view giving this error.

Appreciate any help. Thanks

Why not switch back to CCC 13.4? Newer isn't always better.

Yes I will try that. And a re-reinstall of 13.9.

I noticed that when I ran the CCC uninstaller the CCC folders and all content were still on my hard drive for each successive CCC update. Is this how it's supposed to be after a full uninstall?
