MC 19 for Mac and MC18 for Mac simultaneously?

If you already own MC18 for Mac and install MC19 for Mac,will it replace or overwrite the files for MC18 for Mac? Or can you have both installed and switch back and forth for comparison purposes? I am happy with 18,but have purchased the upgrade licence for 19,but wish to wait to make the full-time jump to MC19 for Mac,until after more work has been done on it. How stable is the current version(55)?

They co-exist peacefully - you can have both installed at the same time.

Is there a reason to keep 18?
19 seems to have all that 18 has.
