Sync Playlist to Phone via USB 3.0 not working?

If I set my android phone to "media device", I can sync playlists to the SD card, but selecting USB 3.0 mode doesn't seem to work.  It says error on every song it tries to transfer.  I'm using a proper USB 3.0 cable and plugged into a USB 3.0 jack in my computer.  Is this a software thing with MC18?
