Bugs:
1. Tracklist thumb is still wacked.  Wrong position and draging it yields funny thumbs positions (all over the place).
2. Still have the focus problem if buttons are not on the Main window (ie, you have to click twice on the button to get it two work...once to focus and once to actually press).
3. Two JScript errors in Rotar skin...even after deleting the state.xml file.

Update: 03/09/2002 09:30am
1. It appears the Tracklist thumb is placing the thumb in the reverse position (using TracklistScrollUp/Down buttons.  Also, thumb is initially places wrong too.  The Rotar skin has no Tracklist thumb.

2. Notice, in Rotar, the equalizer On/Of button has to be clicked twice if the mini-Me view does not have the application focus.  This is exactly the problem I'm describing (a big problem if every button in your skin is not located on the Main window).  I'm guess this is a tough one to fix...but MJ know the mouseover event for the button because it changes the image even though MJ does not have the focus.  Maybe the mouseover event could make MJ the focus app (if not already) and that'd fix it. (but, that may have soom undesirable side-effects...)

Update: 03/09/2002 6:30PM
1. Looks like the new Rotar fixes Rotar's Playlist's (Tracklist) thumb too.  Odd, I'll try to determine if LRII can be fixed too (by reviewing what was fixed in the latest Rotar skin).  Sure
hope it's a LRII bug.

Update: 03/09/2002 6:55PM
1. Fixed LRII's Tracklist thumb problem by adding Align="Top" to the definition.  Odd, the default Align for the Tracklist thumb doesn't work, but works for all the other thumbs (including the Equalizer sliders and thumbs).  Even Rotar only defines Align="Top" for the Tracklist thumb and none of the others (that must be what was changed/fixed in the new Rotar).

When clicking "devices", dialoque about ASPI drivers appears, I click "ok" to download ASPI drivers.
Download progress bar appears and is downloading.
Then this shows up: "File ´CNext PageOCUME~1\Owner\Local~1\Temp\ASPI Drivers\install.bat XP32´is not found"
I click "ok" and MJ shuts down immediately.

First thing I did on launch of 224 was to hit the mini-me button, and evilness ensued. It didn't exactly crash catastrophically but kept throwing JScript errors and I'd dismiss the dialogs and requests to launch the debugger, and eventually I got to mini-me.

Plug-In Manager Problem. Tried to uninstall Arsenolite and get message that uninstall was successful. However when I check in display in the plug-in manager Arsenolite is still there.

Arsenolite doesn't seem to respond when in full screen view. Right clicking brings up menu but not able to select anything.

MJ hung up when I inserted disc for the first time- analyzing devices was displayed when this happened.

Also still have flickering display when going settings-options-playback. Again this is the only place I have seen it do this.

Additional- File, Edit, View, etc buttons still grayed out occasionally. Mouse over them and fonts darken again.

Not yet. The previous crash problems described are apparently specific to the new stunts you're trying to pull in Rotor. Debugger says that the Metamorphis.IsEqualizerOn() call is barfing because that method isn't recognized. Call is being made in function OnToggleEQState().

in full screen mode, the auto-hide bars do not work when "Resize display for bars" is enabled & when turning off aut-hide, you have a double bar at the bottom of the screen.
In MEGA-ME mode When turning off auto-hide bars & "Resize display for bars" is enabled , when going to media library and back to playing now, the visualisation is not resized.
It only resizes when hovering with the mouse over the visualisation

download this, unzip to a folder, then run ASPIINST.EXE inside the folder, then you must reboot, then run ASPICHK.EXE in that folder to make sure it was installed correctly.

Nikolay: ZRocker,
Rotate arrtibute will be available in next build. And quite a few other Metamorphis changes.

Nikolay,

That Rotate option is nice (needed), but that's not what I'm talking about.  I want to rotate by XXX degrees the display of text (90 degrees = vertical, top-to-bottom, 180 = upside-down, 270 = vertical, bottom-to-top, etc.).  Sorry to be unclear before...I think Doof understood what I meant.

Thanks...

[Update]
I just read Matt's comment from the 222 thread...I understand to Rotate the text is a harder task.

I just reported this in the thread, because MJ goes down attempting to download and install the aspi driver.

Would you please; PLEASE; fix MJ so it won't "buffer" so much; OR advise me on what needs to be done with my machine/setup.

When it starts buffering repeatedly, at some point and time I get the nasty message that the program has committed an illegal operation and that it would be shut down. And it shuts itself down, exits MJ. It's not easy to restart the computer at this point; you cannot shut it down with the normal keystrokes. Generally you have to just turn power off and let it set for a while. As you know this method of shut down is not recommended because it can scramble files etc.

MJ still crashes at the end of tracks. Not exactly with the last second but always at the end. Other than I originally thought this does not seem to be the case only with .mpc files but also with .mp3 and .ape . This bug is new since a few builds ago.

In Mini-Me mode, on WinXP (haven't checked other OSs), the task manager shows an application for each currently-visible window that the skin defines. Shouldn't the task manager be showing MJ8, and not the windows of the skin?

Two bugs:
1) After updating to a newer version, when right after installation I click on Settings>Options MJ crashes and reboots the system.
2) After rebooting it is Ok, but when selecting Settings>Options again, the settings menu does not repaint properly (only the left half is redrawn, and it takes between 3 and 15 seconds until the options panel appears and sometimes it crashes again.

This has been going on since at least the last 5 to 8 updates. I am wondering that nobody else has this problem, but as I do not scroll all the bugs regularly, I might have missed it.

I confirm the ASPI thing. Previous builds, and I may have missed a couple here and there, never asked me to install the ASPI layer. It just auto-detected like god intended (since everyone else in the world today seems to know what god intends, I declare myself of equal authority).

Installing it did crash MJ, last dialog box said file not found (path showed a path with two slashes before the filename, \install XP 32.bat, or something like that). On restart of MJ the CD writer was detected, although the use generic driver box was both checked and unavailable (kind of an ambiguous message being sent there--am I using the specific driver and I can't use the generic driver, am I using the generic driver and I can't use the specific driver?).

Not a bug but more of a wish: The highlight remaining on the initially clicked track in Playing Now is misleading. When the player moves on, so should the highlight. Countless times have I thought that the highlighted track was the one playing; the loudspeaker icon isn't strong enough as a visual emphasis by itself, particularly when placed in a column that contains other icons.

224 is not behaving very nice. I had just turned it back on a few minutes ago, started to play from library and noticed it was somewhat loud. Go to turn volume down only to discover no volume slider! Tried re-start but to no avail. Will try reinstall next.

Additional- Maybe this will get rid of Arsenolite for me.

Still misbehaving. Used Add\Remove Programs from windows to uninstall. Just finished downloading and started MJ-224 . I do not have a volume slider yet. Any thoughts?

Earlier before uninstall I changed some settings in Playback-Output. I tried 16 bit recommended setting but it didn't like this. Went back to source and was fine for the time being. It was only after I restarted later that I noticed the missing slider control.

Changing to Rotar skin generates an Java script error twice. However, ignoring the error, MJ seems to work normal.

When Music01 Is Online And You Try To Also Start Up The HTNL Server Plug-In You Get The Following Message

Server Error: Failed to bind.
Please try a different port.

MJ Should Know What Port Music01 Is Using And Not Even Try That Port, It Should Automatically Try A Few Other Ports 81, 82 etc...

Uninstalled and reinstalled several times now. Latest test of my nerves-getting playback fault error. Here is a paste of the error.

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9da1a.

This happens after only a couple of minutes of play.

Note- When I uninstalled I removed JRiver folder then reinstalled. Now, should this have set back to default view after doing so? I am curious because I had moved the toolbar with rip, burn, etc., icons alongside the other toolbar. But, after reinstall the toolbars are still where I had dragged earlier. Is this because of info left in the media files?

Copied from post named "Buffering"

I have this same problem - play a couple of songs- starts buffering- sound gets "choppy" -MJ crashes. I had this same problem back a couple of versions ago, but the problem went away with one of the new vesions - I can't remember which one.
I downloaded the latest Windows updates as suggested.

Here's the pertinent info.

I too am having a buffering and crashing (kernalDLL fault) that just won't even get of the screen after I try to close the fault box. I have to reboot the machine I can't even use CTRL_ALT_DEL to get rid of it. I have deleted the collage folder and updated all of my drivers which has been suggested in other threads. This is really getting worse in the last several builds. The buffering problem has been mentioned before and it continues to make the software very unstable. My system info is as follows;
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.224

CPU: AMD Duron 755 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 130 MB, Free - 14 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows Me

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4704.1100
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 5.50.4134.100
wnaspi32.dll: 2, 0, 0, 0 , ASPI for WIN32 DLL, Copyright © Adaptec 1995
Aspi32.sys: N/A

I hope you can do something about this, but for now I guess all my playback will be done with Winamp which is not too favorable to me but it beats uninstalling and re-installing 7.2 which I had no problems with.

Bug:

1. The Metamorphis OnMixerChanged event is not called when the EQ is enabled or disable.  So, if the EQ is off and you adjust an EQ band, MJ turns on the EQ automagically but does not trigger the OnMixerChanged event (so the skinner can update the EQ On/Off button/image accordingly).

Update:
Not a bug...I should be using the OnEqualizerChanged event I see now (sorry).

2. Old resizing visualization window bug still remains.  If you changed the HEIGHT or WIDTH of the Placeholder window for a Visualization, MJ does not adjust the window accordingly. (Tracklist resizing does work now...as reported in build #222).

Custom quality command line no longer works..
« Reply #45 on: March 10, 2002, 12:15:16 pm »

With this build (or a very recent one) the custom quality command line for the LAME encoder stopped working.  Now, whenever I add a command line, MJ freezes up and needs to be restarted.  Please fix.

Or, did you change the requirements in some way?

Metamorphis request:

1. Functions to return to MEGA-ME, Minimize and Exit MJ.  These are needed if the skin author does NOT want to use the predefined Metamorphis buttons that perform these functions.  I'm toying with adding a feature that will atleast need a callable Minimize function.

More Metamorphis bugs:

1. If you use SetStateValue in your skin's JScript, when you exit the mine-Me skin and return to Mega-Me, MJ crashs.  The state.xml file has the section and contains the State values, but there must be a bug causing MJ to crashes just after saving those values.  If I removed the SetStateValue calls from my skin, then MJ kept crashing.  I had to use the skin manager to change to another skin and then change it back to the original skin that was using the SetStateValue function.

2. The Skins Manager and the right-click Skins selection menu use differing info to display their skin names.  Skins Manager uses the Skin Name in the main.xml file.  Right-click Skins menu using the directory name where the skin is stored under MiniSkins.

3. If your skin's directory name (under MiniSkins) and your skin's name specified in the main.xml file do not match exactly, TheSkin.gif feature does not work (ie, Skins Manager does NOT display your TheSkins.gif graphic when your skin is selected in the Skins Manager).

4. The Balance property for CMJMixerAutomation is off by one...the range is currently -99 to |PLS|100...can't get -100.  -1 to -100 should be left channel, 0 is center and |PLS|1 to |PLS|100 is right channel (so, 201 possible values).

If I try to write ID3 tags to more than 1 file at a time, I get an error messages saying it can't be done followed by a list of each file that a write was attempted to, listed twice.  OR a message saying MediaJukebox.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

On a brand new installation of WinXP (ie 1 hour ago) MJ crashes when I hit BURN CD ... it did exactly the same thing on my previous installation of Win98 !!?!?  Using a Traxdata 4120 that works flawlessly on MJ7
