You MUST remove the previous build before installing this.
It will NOT affect your settings or library (they are stored in your home directory).

sudo dpkg -r mediacenter
then install the new package as usual using dpkg.
The desktop entry now points to mediacenter19 as the binary. If you are executing the binary from a command line, it's mediacenter19.

@devs: I guess you already know, but there are multiple issues with the X11 window properties.

For example, context menus aren't set as _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_MENU, therefore a lot of window managers (especially tilling wms) have problems to display JRiver Media Center correctly. Unity (Compiz) doesn't recognize your windows at all.

Apart from that, is it too early in development to submit bug/crash reports? I've been facing quite a lot of issues - most of them are pretty obvious.

For now it's good to just point out the obvious things like you just did.
The focus to this point has been getting as much of the underlying functionality working as possible.

Also find that the close button and the play buttons have recently disappeared. Fonts also not using the fonts currently used by the environment (Ubuntu 13.10, Mate). Looking forward to when its stable and fully functional but nice to see the ongoing development :)

Aborting: Re: JRiver Media Center 19.0.62 for Debian
« Reply #5 on: October 28, 2013, 08:43:42 am »

Installed Mediacenter 19.0.62 deb and everything came up fine, then after about 5 seconds, it aborted. When is the next build due out? I'd send the terminal window, but cannot due to this message being limited to 12k characters.
Thanks,
tlcmd (aka Dick)

Ogg is crashing the Import.
Remove the ogg plugin for now.

sudo rm /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 19/Plugins/libin_OGG.so

It would be real nice to have an international char set, because it's a real pain to replace  "\" with "/". (The "\" is important, if you try to import a given windows library and try to set new path- and file names. Also, "[]" won't work). Also, a lot of windows titles still show numbers and the browse (to set locations) button is not working.
