Easy Way To Switch Audio Devices?
« on: December 10, 2013, 03:58:45 pm »

Hi everyone. I'm starting to put my video library on my network using MAKEMKV to produce .mkv files from all my older movies. This way I can use JRemote to play movies as well as music. Trouble is I have to switch Audio Devices manually every time between the on-board HDMI and my high-end sound card when switching between music and movies.
Is there an easy way to accomplish this automatically? Can JRiver be told what audio device to use depending on what I'm playing? Can JRemote handle this switch?

Yes.

You can certainly do it manually.  What you want to do is set each audio device up as its own Zone.  MC's Zones are designed for exactly this purpose.

MC19 also has automatic Zone Switching, though I'm not an expert on this so I'll let others comment.

I was just looking at that. I'll play around with the zone feature and let you know. Thanks.

Yup, zone feature works just fine! I just hadn't got around to investigating all that this program can do! Love it!
