I just got a Vivotab Smart quite cheap. One of the ways I wanted to use it was as a library server client, to browse media in theatre view to play on the server. That part works great, but when I want to skip a video forward or backwards a few seconds, I am a bit stuck without a keyboard or mouse.
It would be great if finger-swiping up/down and left/right in Playing Now could work like it does in Gizmo - i.e. as a remote to bring up the OSD and navigate it. JRiver is rightly proud that everything can be done with just five buttons; it would be the ideal solution for Windows Tablets if it were true of swipes and taps too to control the OSD.

I'm getting interested in using a touchscreen interface with MC itself.  My requirement may be somewhat different from fitbrit's.

I use standard mode with panes views on MC.  I'm not finding Gizmo and WebGizmo to be a satisfactory replacement.  I want to be able to use text-only panes interfaces on a tablet without a hard keyboard.

Have you tried Theater View for that?  It's probably a better choice than Standard View for touch use.

Or played with the new sizing feature for Standard View?

Gizmo on an Android should also work well.

It sounds like he is using Theater View, but it lacks touch controls for seeking through files.

Yeah, the lack of seek is one of the biggest issues I've encountered.

I can try to write up some thoughts when I have more time.  It'll be a couple weeks though.

I would love this too.
I just got my surface setup as a client to control the media server and it works great in theatre view for navigating with touch but there is no way to bring up the player control type OSD.
I can use the playingnow controls but they are a but clunky to use with touch because whenever you touch a button it recentres all the controls which is a bit of a pain.
It would be great if we could have a permanent OSD or popup OSD with controls in theatre view like we get in standard view for when using the client to control the media server.
or even better.... a custom theatreview screen with large touch buttons.

I suppose for now I can create a custom standard view thats touch optimised to allow easy touch navigation, but i really like the theaterview navigation with touch.

Yes, with a variety of Windows tablets now quite affordable, I think  they are a real (and more capable) competitor to Android+Gizmo as remote controls for another HTPC. It would be nice to have a remote control screen that's a virtual touchpad for swiping a la JRemote on iOS
