Remotes like JRemote and Gizmo for windows?
« on: January 05, 2021, 01:29:05 pm »

Good day

As my eyes become not good enough to read my small cell phone with either Jremote2 or Gizmo,i need to ask is there a Jremote2 or Gizmo or similar for windows?

i have a much larger windows tablet  which would be ideal to use

Cheers

I really like JRemote on my iPad.  I even tried JRemote2 on a Fire tablet and I much prefer the iPad version.

You can use Panel or a web browser but they don't have the same look & feel of either JRemote app.  You could actually run JRiver on a Windows tablet as I understand it.

Well, MO 4Media is available on Windows, but it's not straightforward to install and run it. And I'm not sure if it's been updated in awhile.

Otherwise running Media Center and using it as a client or using Panel are likely your only options.

Did you mean Jremote2? i assume you do?

My old eyes are not what they use to be,and i don`t want to spent a couple of hundred for a device for only 1 use

OOPz

Cheers for clarifying that mate

That likely saved me some future confusion lol

Is the the same app in that they would simultaneously be the same revisions/updated versions at the same time?

I don't think so.  I hope the original JRemote continues to receive updates (it has up to this point) but the two are on a different development paths as best I can tell.

Use port 52200 instead of 52199.

Is that a setting somewhere in windows 10?

Will it be faster? Because man this is painfully slow lol

Hmm good thinking

Do you mean from one of my remote devices Ie cell phone/tablet etc?

I can use JRiver itself on a device remote to control JRiver on my pc where all my music is?

Or i have JRiver on a device and connect to my PC and have access like i do now with JRiver on my pc?

If Gizmo or Jremote2 would browse music/audio by disk like they do music i wouldnt even be sweating this

But i am interested in hearing more from your advice

Cheers

Yes. You can have an instance of MC on your Windows tablet. And instead of loading it’s own media library from its own disk, you can have it connect to the instance of MC that is running on your main PC and use that one’s library. There’s surely a description in the wiki that explains this.

Correct.

Look at Tremote in that topic.  MC can control MC on another machine.

You can install Media Center on something like a tablet and as a client you can connect it to another Media Center server running on a device in your network and you can either use the client Media Center to control the server Media Center or you can stream your media from the server to the client Media Center.

My example is, I have a Media Center server running on a Windows desktop PC, and I have a Windows tablet as well. So while Media Center is running as a server on the desktop PC, I have Media Center installed on the tablet and I connect it (via Media Network) to the Media Center server so it becomes a client. The Media Center client on the tablet can be now used to control the playback of the server Media Center or I can set it to stream from the server to the client Tablet.

So you don't need a physical remote control for that, it's optional if you want/need one.

i would imagine i just enter the infos on my other machine/tablet as i did in Gizmo/Jremote2?

Tools-options-media network & the access key is found there at top?

...Access key ?

Is that correct?
