Stereo+HT+DRC hardware solution
« on: January 26, 2014, 12:29:48 am »

Hello everybody...

I am quite new to HTPC and JRiver and despite my readings, I am still not up to a solution so I am looking for your inputs...

The function I want to address:
- Music in 2.2 => crossover and bass management
- Home theater in 4.2 (no center) => Decode various HT formats
- DRC + speaker correction for music and HT
- Stereo quality is very important
- Optionally using a NAS for music and movies (need a HDMI output in that case)

So far, I ended with the following config:
- JRiver on Windows (XO, Bass mgt...) + HT decoding
- Teac UD-501 to output the stereo channels
- Lynx 2B for output subs and rears
- Acourate for measurements and filters

Should I be able to do what I want with this config or is there some issues here ?

Thanks for your advice !

Auto reply, it seems having more than one DAC not synchronized externaly somehow does not work (it make sense...)...
Using the Lynx for all output seems to way to go...

Any comments on the rest of the config is welcome...

You mention jriver for bass mgmt but acourate for filters as well as needing HDMI for your NAS. The HDMI comment makes me wonder how your setup is hooked up but otherwise I don't see any obvious problem. FWIW I am using acourate too for 2.1/5.1 (music/films) and am using it to do all the correction inc bass mgmt.

Sorry for not being clear...

What I meant with the HDMI output is, if I want to use this HTPC to play video, I need one...
My NAS is today storing music (flac) and movies played respectively by a Transporter and a Dune players
