Réorganisation des albums par ordre chronologique (Date) ?
« on: February 02, 2014, 03:21:33 am »

Bonjour,

merci

MJ14 is old, and I don't remember all of its features or limitations.

It looks like the screenshot is from a Categories view.  You control the sort order of a Categories view with the Sort By feature (and I can't recall where this is in MJ14).  You would need to create an expression that outputs [Artist] [Date (year)], so that the sort could be based on Artist and then within an Artist based on Date (year).  This might help:

Thanxs for your answer. The problem has been resolved for single artists but not for music compilation which have several dates.

Another suggestion ?

You're welcome.

I'll need to see the data, as there's not much to go on in the screenshot.  I hope this will work w/MJ14:

For one split album, select the files in question, and use File > Export Playlist.  Select:

   Format: Text File (CSV delimited)
   Included Fields: All Fields
   Output Range: Selection

Save it to the Desktop, zip it, and attach it in a reply here.

It might be that the wording above is slightly different in MJ14 - you want the text file Format.

It looks to me like you must be using as a category a definition that contains the date.  How is this view defined?  I'd need to see the Categories, and the Category definitions if they are Calculated data fields.

Customize the view, and take a screenshot of the dialog.  Also, Edit each item in Show Categories In This Order, and grab those screenshots.

If you create your own expression field, call it something like My Album - Artist, and set the Type as Calculated data, and enter:

   [Album] - [Album Artist (auto)]

you should be able to use this as a Category and this will remove the date from the grouping, so the items will coalesce.

2.JPG shows how you've created the problem for yourself. :-)

Your "Artist" category contains an expression that includes the Date, and your Dates vary, so of course there must be as many categories for that grouping as their are unique triads of Album Artist (auto) + Date (year) + Album's.

Remove the Date (year) portion.

I did what you said in you first answer :

Quote
You would need to create an expression that outputs [Artist] [Date (year)], so that the sort could be based on Artist and then within an Artist based on Date (year).

If there is no Date (year) portion, albums are not sorted by year !

You can't have it both ways.  Category grouping and sorting are one and the same thing.

Perhaps you want to have a Disc Release Date, and use that to group/sort on instead of track dates.
