When I play a ripped CD the order is always played alphabetically by track name. Is there a way to play the tracks in the original order on the CD as a default?

I use a CD database manager program called Orange CD to initiate playback. I can point Orange CD to use which ever media player I choose. When I play a CD from Orange CD the songs play in the correct order as on the original CD when using Microsoft Media Player. With JRiver as the player, playback order is in alphabetic order of the media file names.

That's an entirely different matter.  You're outside the realm of MC, so all bets are off.

Thanks for the help. I was hoping there might be an option/preference to select how playback order is chosen. Oh well.

I'm just amazed that the audio fidelity is so much better in JR Media Center than MS Media Player
