Crash at DVB-T channel scan [solved]
« on: April 03, 2014, 04:35:55 pm »

Using a "WinFast DTV Dongle Gold BDA Filter" USB DVB-T tuner. MC 19.0.124 crashes upon pressing "Next" at a DVB-T channel scan. Sending log to Yaobing via mail.

Re: Crash at DVB-T scan (will not start-WinFast DTV Dongle Gold)

The log is very short and unfortunately does not provide enough info.

What is the EPG scanning option you use for guide?  I noticed something weird when the option is not the default option, though there was no crash here.

Do you mean the "Load program guide..." options? Haven't touched anything there, the first option is checked (Download EPG automatically). Also tried with "Clear program guide", it seems no option applies here (Greece).

Thanks.  Then that is not the same issue.

I will have to add more logging for television channel scanning in order to see what is going on.  In the mean time have you tried re-installing the tuner's driver?

Thanks. Yes, tried a driver uninstall/reinstall, MC problem remains. The tuner/stick works ok.

Sent a 19.0.127 log from another (easier to access) PC, which I found out displays exactly the same problem. This one uses a Hauppauge HVR-4000 PCI multi-tuner card which worked fine in the past with MC on the same PC.

Thanks for the new log.

There is some progress but I am still puzzled.  I need to add yet more logging.

Please try this file https://www.dropbox.com/s/h81d7gvsrf79mwu/Media%20Center%2019.zip

You need to unzip and copy the exe file into the MC19 installation folder.

Thanks, there's no change with the replaced .exe. Sent you 2 v.19.0.128 logs, before and after replacing the .exe.

Thanks.  The log now clearly shows why it crashed.  I guess you did not enable the remote control feature on your system.

While the remote control feature is optional for DVB-T tuning, it is needed for STB channels.  That explains why you started getting crashes recently.

After verifying that turning on remote control feature fixes the crash (with build 128), you can try the following file with the remote control feature off (it should not crash):
