MC18 stopped working
« on: April 22, 2014, 01:10:59 pm »

Hi I have been with JRiver since I think MC9. I use it at home and in my taxicab PC 60, 70 hours a week or more. I am a sad and anxious man now 'cos last week, for some reason, MC18 stopped opening (nothing no error message just no response). Troubleshooting included malwarebytes scan (nothing big and bad it seemed) and system restore. No luck, no change, no clue. So I did an uninstall/re-install (the save library option). It seemed to extract and install smoothly (one odd thing is that last year I had trouble extracting and re-installing MC on this box -a pretty tricked out Gateway desktop w/Windows 7pro - which trouble manifest as garbled hieroglyphics-like dialog boxes in the install process which ended as mysteriously as it began after literally dozens of reps - call me crazy) but when I tried to open the reinstall this time it immediately crashed "windows has encountered a serious error and program must close" or words to that effect. Tried again with the install to a portable drive option (which I may fool around with again next) - nada; and, just now, using install key to restore licence BEFORE launching program - you know what comes next - yah, diddly.

So here I am all dressed up with 600,000 or so music files and no MC to escort me to the ball. Any ideas? Could it be a security setting I could dismantle maybe? I don't think I have antivirus running. I am willing to upgrade to MC19 too if that would help.

Thanks in advance
Barry

Try downloading again.  MC18 is available.  Start here:

The problem could be related to some "security" software.

There are more ideas in the "Weird Problems" thread.  You can find the link in my signature.
