Dumb cover art question...
« on: February 14, 2002, 12:08:35 pm »

I'm going through my library and downloading cover art I can find using MJ.

I assume that if the cover art has been retrieved and stored for one file/album that it isn't retrieved and stored again for another song on the same album??

OK. Cool.

But then how do I "tell" MJ that I have downloaded the cover art from album A so that it will display the cover when the next song from the album is played?

Do I have to go through all songs and download one at a time? Seems like doing this from the Album media library view would be simpler?

I don't use cover art, so I'm just guessing, but . . .

the cover art is stored in a folder within JRiver/media jukebox/data

select all the files for the abbum, right-click, select properties, select the image tab, and then add--point it to the correct image

Yup. The cover art is held in a directory under MJ - I just found it. I guess it seems like a ling winded process to do the lookup n times per album.

If the player simply looked in the directory when it needed cover art and if it found a match then cool, otherwise use the default picture.

in v.8, isn't there an option to have MJ fetch the cover art automatically when the cd is ripped

or are you working with previously ripped cd's

MJ won't search for cover art if:

1) it can find a match from what's already been downloaded
2) it already tried and couldn't find any for that artist / album (this resets everytime you re-run a cover art scan)

You can also specify "don't go online" and it will only hook-up to hits from #1 above.

Matt - yeah, I understand. It seems to me that checking the cover art directory (that's how I'm storing the files) at the time of playing would preclude having to go through the download process.

MHorton - yeah. I'm downloading the cover art against the rag bag of MP3s I have.
