Hi,

I'm looking for a simple device that I can plug into my network so that I can listen to my Media Center library from my bedroom.

Requirements:

1. Must be self-contained, I don't want to have to get separate speakers or anything like that.
2. Must connect to my existing Media Center library, preferably with both ethernet and wireless connections available.
3. Sound quality isn't too high of a priority as it will mostly be podcasts and audiobooks that I'll be listening to.
4. Looking to spend no more than £100/$170

Does such a device exist? My google-fu must be a bit lacking as I'm not finding much but then it's difficult to know what to search for!

You could try the JRiver Id.  The price is higher than you said, so you decide if you're interested.

Your other option would be to just get a Dock (physical or BT) for your phone (and use Gizmo, JRemote etc on it).

There are also "Clock Radio" style format devices with DLNA built in.

Agree with jmone there. I use Gizmo on my Android phone and a pair of these fellas:

Does nicely for me out in the garage. With 2 of them and the UE app, I get a reasonable stereo effect.

But given your budget, you could go here:

But you'd need a spare amp + speakers ... so, this option with a R-Pi would get you almost all the way there:

Thanks for the replies. I did it look at the Id and while it looks very nice, it's overkill for what I'm after really. The phone dock is an interesting idea that I hadn't thought of, I will have a look around but that may well be the answer.

I had thought about a Pi as I've wanted to tinker for a while but I haven't really got the time to devote to it at the moment. Shame as it would be a fun solution.
