JR MC19 Win to JR MC Mac
« on: June 26, 2014, 06:17:49 am »

Hello. My Windows notebook is on last days and I'm planning to ditch Windows and move to MacBook Maverick and/or next Mac O/S. Any discount for licensed JR MC users making move from Win to Mac version of JR MC? Also is it easy moving my JR MC Flac/dsf music files to Mac from Windows? Thank you!

This part is easy.  Simply move the files over.

If you need to transfer your actual Library (MC's database, not the files) over, that's a bit more challenging because OSX uses a different path-name structure.  MrC wrote a script for this purpose, though, I believe, so it is also possible.

While we're here, if I have MC running on a Windows machine that acts as my server, I should still be able to access the library (pick files to play, tag, etc) on a Mac version of MC as well, right?

That's correct.

Have read on forums for optimizing SQ best to convert Flac files to file version better suited to Mac system. Any substance to these "anyone can say anything on forum" opinions?

Anyone who says that has a fundamental misunderstanding of how computers work.
