Auto-import Interval
« on: June 30, 2014, 07:01:21 pm »

Does the auto-import process run on a timer or some more complex algorithm?  I've been observing it and it's difficult for me to say when and if it's going to run.

It runs on a folder watch - if there are changes it runs.

On my system, I'm not seeing files being imported immediately upon being saved into the watched folder.  It looks more like it runs every 10 minutes or something.

I'm on Wheezy 64bit.  Is there some information I can provide to investigate this further?

If you are running build 19.0.146 and you have folders in the autoimport list they will be scanned when the program is started and continuously afterwards.
It can take a minute or two after the filesystem change happens for the import to trigger.

Personally I've added and use the Run Auto-Import Now button on my toolbar, which I'll click to manually force an update. Great when adding new files to the library very quickly. :D

With v146 it's very quick. I just ripped a cd to a different folder, then copied it to the watched folder, and switched to see what MC was doing (in recent albums view). The new album appeared before the copy had finished.
