Incorrect audio path information with HDMI bitstreaming
« on: August 11, 2014, 11:19:48 pm »

Hello,

I don't know if it is a bug but when I use bitstreaming via HDMI JRiver incorrectly reports any source input as only 2 channel.

The receiver does in fact receive the correct number of channels.

Switching to any other method than bitstreaming results in correct reporting of input channels.

Best regards,
Mikkel

If you are bitstreaming Dolby Digital/DTS that is correct.
The multichannel information is inside a 2 channel container format.

Note: It is not recommended to use bitstreaming via HDMI unless absolutely necessary, as this prevents you from using VideoClock.

I've wanted to fix the audio path when bitstreaming for a while to simply hide this information, since its a technical detail of how bitstreaming works instead of actual useful information for the user, but there were some problems doing that. Maybe I'll poke that in MC20 at some point, its still on my list.
