I have a few older CD's that the volume is lower than some of my other CD's. On my old cassette player recorder(remembered those) there was a way to equalized the play back so all songs recorded is at the same playback level. Is there a way to do this in JRiver MC or is there an add-on equalizer so I can adjust the volume prior to ripping the songs.

Volume leveling is the best way.  Analyze all the files and then enable volume leveling in DSP Studio.

Looked at that as an option but I must be doing something wrong. I only have been able to analyze one track at a time not the entire library. Once I figure it out though I have a couple of questions.
Does this affect the audio quality. And does it change the files in the playlist or will I need to make new playlist.

Pick all the files, right-click > Library Tools > Analyze Audio.

The data is stored with the files, so any playlist they're in will work.

Just a note.  I believe that all the files within the current playlist have to have been "Analysed" in order for this to fully work.  But I have been using it for some time now and it's great.  I have even created a view (With MrC's help) to show me all files which have not yet been analyzed.
If you want I will try to find the thread on how to do it and post it here.

Couldn't find the thread so I will post my settings below.

Basically you want to "Add Library View"   (from 'Right Click' on Audio group).

I prefer the "Pain" view but I am sure it will work with any view type you prefer.

I named my view "Not Analyzed"

Then 'Right Click' the view and select "Customize View".  See result below.  Mine might look a bit different if you are not using the "Panes" option.



Click on "set rules for display"  which should get you something like this:



On the left side you want to select the field "Peak Level (R128)" and then "is" - "<empty>

That should result in tracks whose "R128" field is "Empty" meaning it hasn't yet been analyzed.

Thanks Carl This has helped a lot. Tried it out on a few low tracks and it works. Have had a few tracks that are now playing back at a higher volume than the previous  track (clarification these were the tracks that the playback level was lower on previously) but this may be a function of the player I am using will do more tests.
