disabling "nothing playing" display(?)
« on: September 14, 2014, 04:00:29 pm »

I like to use the 'Ctrl+6' display view which allows for the primary MC window to be shown on one monitor while the video is shown on my HDTV.

Is there any way to disable the "Play" icon that would show on the HDTV when nothing is being played?  IE, if MC would show nothing it would allow my Tv to enter into standby and save power.

If development has stopped for MC19 can I suggest that MC20 allow for it?

I'm not sure I understand.  Ctrl+6 is an empty window for me if nothing is playing.  Isn't that the case for you?

I think he is talking about the JRiver logo that is part of the background image of the display window.

But that's so faint.  Why would that bother anyone?

Evidently they are under the impression that without it their TV will go into standby but to my knowledge it doesn't matter what is in the window the TV will not, even an all black window has data.

My TV turns off the backlight with an all black screen. The option would be useful.

Yes ... If I put absolutely nothing on my secondary display (Sony LED HDTV) and, the Windows background is defined as absolute black, it will go absolutely blank after ~10-15 seconds.

If I've just stopped a video there will be a blank MC display, but I believe if it is stopped music it will show the MC logo and the Tv will never go to a blank standby.

Stop is pause on a 3 button skin.  Try the 4 button option.

I don't believe stop v pause is the issue(?) ... else please explain. Re "3 v 4 skins", are you referring to "display" v "theatre" views?

i think mc uses the logo that is found in the mc folder Default Art. when you copy this logo, and make besides the folder Default Art a new folder called Custom Art, and paste the Logo in there. you can make the image all transparant or someting like that, and see if that would do the trick.

That's a good way to solve the problem.
