Hello,
I have serched wiki and the forum and cannot find an answer.
I use my Ipod classic and have found since I have started using JRiver some of the songs sound slow. Like when you play a 45rpm record at 33 1/3
How do I erase my Ipod
How do I manually manage putting files on my Ipod
Is there a setting in JRIVEr where I can convert my HD files from 24/196 to a 24/96 to my ipod?

Can the iPod Classic even playback 24/96 files? You might be stuck with 16/44.1.

Yes it can.

No iDevice supports 24/96 natively - the hardware has a max of 24/48 and that's out of the dock connector

You need to use DSP->Output Format during conversion to downsample 88/96/192 etc to AT MOST 48.

Yep.  And even if it is Rockboxed, and you think you are playing 24/96, Rockbox is downsampling the out output to 16/44.1.

I cannot believe how many times in the past I have read how someone is 110% certain their iDevice completely supports hi-res simply because the file "plays".

They do not even stop to consider the invisible slight of hand that is going on at the hardware level.

That has been confirmed but I am certain there are other devices out there that will.

We also know now that the iPhone 6 is not capable of 24/96 either...

No, the FiiO X1, X3, and X5 are all capable of 24/192.  So are the Astell&Kern AK100 and AK120, and the AK240 does as well plus native DSD support. 

Next generation Android L will also support 24-bit.  Many phones already have DACs that are capable of 24/96 (some even 24/192) but are limited by the software.  You can load a custom kernel now to use them, but with Android 5.0 it will be native.
