  • LIFE IS A RADIO... CRANK IT UP TO 11!

we've purchased a few chromecasts, and are wondering when you guys foresee descriptions and other tags that are shown in theaterview to be available via gizmo?
we'd like to be able to see the descriptions of our library items from our tv's that are now connected via chromecast.
thanks

You can customize the Gizmo views:

Options > Media Network > Custom views for Gizmo & WebGizmo...

At my Dad's now (which is where i plan on installing all the chromecasts) I just Team Viewered into server, went to Options > Media Network > Custom views for Gizmo & WebGizmo but not noticing anywhere to enable this?

Maybe i phrased it wrong... if one uses theaterview then drills down/selects a movie, there are tags that are shown..description, Actors, Directors, etc...when our family uses gizmo, and we drill down/select a movie, there is no description/Info/tags so our entire library when viewing it on tv's via chromecast/gizmo no one knows what the movie/documentary is about because none of that tag /info is there. :(

A few weeks ago in version 20 you allowed us to be able to click this info/ tags in theaterview which would bring us to those tags.. example if we had it setup to show actor info, and we clicked it, we could select one of the actors, and see all there films. In gizmo there is no tags/info to view all we can see is the filename of the film/documentary.

The way it sits after purchasing all these chromecasts, Dad and those living here really can't get the benefits of jriver theaterviews via chromecasts/gizmo, because they won't know what it is they are watching... I guess it's similar to ordering cable or satellite, and having a guide showing the names of films/tv shows, but no description of what the film/documentary is about.

thanks for the reply, and your time.

Here's an example of our gizmo.

open gizmo, click on video\recently imported\genres (chose Documentary)\ once in documentary Genre, i click on Digital Amnesia it brings me here, if i click it again, it plays it... but one doesnt have a clue what it is about, who's in it, directed it,  etc...

Thanks

due to lack of replies is it safe to assume it's not yet available, and ive not overlooked something all these years?

if so, back to original question please... estimated time when descriptions, artists, actors etc will be available on gizmo... IF EVER?

Thank you.

I've tried what you suggested, but it doesnt show the info/tag it just drills down to actors. there is no description of what the film is about, as there is with theaterview

theaterview showing information for the users

Gizmo showing no information ( if i click on Digital Amnesia it just plays the film... the user has no idea what this film is about, being they have one PC with JRiver server on it their cheapest option that i know of is to go the chromecast/gizmo route.) using Gizmo and chromecast to send their media to their TV's.

Is there any solution for them?
Thank you.

Sure.  Make [Description] one of the levels in Gizmo.

that does nothing, added description to all gizmo video views at the end of ... show categories in this order.
I then force killed media center service, and jrservice (4 times) and ALSO reboot server machine... once i get to movie title it just plays, no description available.

Because there's only one description, it skips it and takes you immediately to the 'file' level. That's a feature that we fought long and hard for in theater view, and is a dream to have. Please do not break that.

This problem needs a different solution, and I'm not sure what that might be at the moment. Just, please, don't break the behaviour above :)

I know of a solution.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help those of you in Android land.  But wait!  What's that, Lespaul?
