DSP Still Not Quite Right
« on: October 10, 2014, 12:00:51 am »

Running MC 20.0.22. Played some files that I had added DSP settings to when the DSP gremlin was overwriting the Effects section with Environment: Concert Hall - 4, 8" Subwoofer, Surround Field - Medium Enhancement. I constructed some new DSP settings and saved them (different names), so I could to change the files that had the old "corrupted" DSP setting. I then saved those new DSPs to these files. Lo, and behold, the Effects section was still changing to Environment: Concert Hall - 4, 8" Subwoofer, Surround Field - Medium Enhancement, when the files played on their own, referencing the DSP internally (from the song/MC Library file). If I would load the same DSP setting manually, the correct DSP Effects settings would be used.

To verify, I cleared all global DSP settings, added the newly constructed and saved DSP to the song files that had old, buggy DSP settings, then played the files - same old Effects settings. Loaded same DSP manually, correct Effects settings.

I tried clearing the DSP setting from the songs (making it null), and then readd the new DSP setting to the song file and got the same thing i.e. the old buggy Effects settings.

I tried clearing the DSP setting from the songs, close MC, reopen MC and then readd the new setting and got the same thing i.e. the old buggy Effects settings.

I tried some other ways to get the song files to recognize a new DSP setting, but the buggy Effect settings always reared its ugly head when reading the DSP from the file; when loading manually, the correct Effects setting would be used.

And before I tried a new way to rid the file of the old DSP setting that brought the buggy Effects setting, I cleared all global DSP settings, to start from scratch.

Also, I deleted the old, buggy DSPs from MC, so there wouldn't be anything of the old DSP to reference.

So the problem I am having is this:

Whenever I try to introduce a new DSP setting to a file that had a DSP when the DSP Effects bug was happening, I still get the bad Effects setting occurring when the song file uses the "internal" song DSP setting; when I manually load the same DSP setting, the correct DSP Effects setting is implemented. And I have tried a variety of ways to clear the file and then add the newly saved DSP to allow the file to use the new Effects setting, but cannot make it happen.

Help, please.
